Los Angeles, CA - From February 14-17, Superfine! Art Fair touches down at Magic Box at The Reef in DTLA. Bringing with it a cadre of 250 contemporary artists including both gallery booths and self-represented solo artists, Superfine! is putting a fresh face to contemporary art by bringing transparency and accessibility to the art fair market - something that is rarely done in an industry where the status quo reigns supreme.

Accessibility is a major driving force behind the Superfine! approach, and their diverse exhibitor base helps drive this point home. More than half of the exhibiting artists are artists of color, and LGBTQ+ artists also receive outsized representation in the fair. Superfine! LA's exhibition highlights will include a retro pink-i-fied "Pansyland" installation by Toronto-based Pansy Ass Ceramics, whose cheeky work challenges masculinity stereotypes and embraces queer culture through ceramics and immersive environments.

Another exhibition highlight, "This Is America!", takes a shot at the current political climate and examines what it means to be an American in 2019. Curated by fair directors Alex Mitow and James Miille, "This is America" features artwork sourced from both the Superfine! exhibitor roster and an array of artists who embody the diversity of this country and whose work speaks to what it means to be part of the cultural fabric of America.

In keeping with the fair's commitment to transparency and accessability, "Price Upon Request" artwork is not allowed - all prices of the 2,000+ available works will be listed clearly. 90% of the work on offer is priced below $5,000, and tools like Art Money are available for new and experienced collectors to find ways to afford high quality contemporary art without breaking the bank.

"Before we launched Superfine! Art Fair, we studied the art market and looked at where most of the transactional movement was happening, and what we discovered was that most art sales were happening in the $2,000 - $5,000 range. We really wanted to create a space that facilitated art commerce and connected quality, cutting-edge contemporary artists with both emerging and established collectors." said Alex Mitow, Superfine! co-founder and Director.

The fair opens on February 14th with a vernissage evening opening poised as an alternative to the traditional Valentine's Day dinner date, with cotton candy topped champagne, performance art, and the first opportunity for visitors to view and consider the works on the walls. Other program highlights include an educational panel series geared towards new collectors along with the fair's fun and inclusively-minded Young Collectors' Ice Cream Social
on Friday, February 15th.
