Stanley Boxer (Estate), Enchantingcalm, 1995, Oil and mixed media on canvas.

A rare opportunity for collectors and admirers of postwar American abstraction, Stanley Boxer: A Centennial Exhibition brings together a collection of seminal works spanning four decades of the artist's career on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. Often described as a "sculptor of paint," Boxer built richly textured compositions that blur the boundary between painting and object.  The works on view trace the evolution of his practice, from the iconic Ribbon Painting Series in the 1970s to the densely layered and material-driven works of his later career. A visionary innovator whose career included more than 100 solo exhibitions, Boxer’s work is held in major museum collections worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Tate Modern.
