Auction

"Led by Jacques-Émile Blanche’s Henriette Chabot au Piano, the 19th Century European Art auction offers a strong selection of fresh to the market paintings, works on paper, and sculpture by leading artists who reflect the extraordinary diversity of this pivotal period of art history. Additional highlights include John Atkinson Grimshaw’s A Moonlit Lane, a selection of three works by William Adolphe Bouguereau from a royal collection, and Gustave Moreau’s Le triomphe de Bacchus. There is a strong group of paintings by the Barbizon painters, including works by Charles-François Daubigny, Théodore Rousseau, and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, as well as a selection of sporting paintings led by works by the 20th Century’s greatest English sporting artist, Sir Alfred James Munnings." - Christie's
