About the Artist

Alphonse Mucha (after)
Alfons Maria Mucha (Czech: [ˈalfons ˈmuxa]; 24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), internationally recognized as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. Residing in Paris during the Art Nouveau era, he gained fame for his uniquely stylized and decorative theatrical posters, especially those featuring Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha also created illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, and designs, which became iconic representations of the period.
