Vintage Posters Bridge Art, Design, History

Courtesy Swann Auctions

Today at auction, Swann Auction Galleries offers the opportunity to own iconic and historic works, some at bargain prices. In a wide-ranging auction of nearly 500 lots, there are vintage posters from around the world and across genres. With a new museum devoted entirely to posters scheduled to open in Manhattan this year, the time may be right to collect them now. Poster House is “dedicated to presenting the impact, culture, and design of posters, both as historical documents and methods of contemporary visual communication.” And the collection on the auction block today shows this diverse impact. Below is a sampling of the offerings, including works from famous artists, posters that advertise products, cultures, and experiences, and documents of important moments in time.
