About The Artist
Peter Max (1937) was born in Berlin, Germany and is known for his use of vibrant colors, which are associated with the visual arts and culture of the 1960s, particularly psychedelic and pop art. In 1953, his family moved to the United States and settled in Bensonhurst, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. Max began his first formal art training at the Art Students League of New York in 1956. Over the years, Max has painted for six U.S. Presidents and displayed his artwork in various U.S. embassies. He has also been the official artist for numerous significant events, such as the Grammy Awards, the 1994 World Cup, and the Super Bowl. Currently, Max resides and works in New York City.
