Lucia Heffernan

"My body of work is an expression and exploration of my lifelong fascination with animals." Lucia Heffernan is a globally-renowned, award-winning artist whose vibrant oil paintings have attracted admirers for their humor and exquisite detail. Born in Taiwan in 1966, Lucia was inspired to paint by her mother - a talented watercolor artist and teacher - from an early age. She graduated with honors in 1989 from Binghamton University in New York with a BFA in Art & Design before founding LDD, a multi-million dollar creative design agency. After relocating to Utah in 2000, her artistic focus shifted to oil painting, which she now uses to capture animals in humorous, endearing scenarios that speak to the many quaint moments of life. In addition to several national awards already under her belt, Lucia is also a member of Oil Painters of America and the Society of Animal Artists. Her striking works of art combine elements of graphic design with intricate animal illustrations – often using animals as metaphors for everyday moments. Art for Lucia is about connecting people with nature through her passion for animals – an inspiring vision that has been slowly but surely succeeding since she first began working.
