EDUARDO CHILLIDA was born January 10, 1924 in San Sebastian (Spain). His first exhibition was in Paris in 1950, and he also marries Pilar Belzunce this year. He has received the most prestigious prizes in his lifetime: the Biennial of Venice, the Kandinsky, the Wilhem Lehmbruck, the Prince de Asturias, the German Kaiserring, and the Imperial Prize in Japan. His work is present in more than twenty museums worldwide, and retrospective exhibitions have been celebrated in Houston and Berlin, Madrid and Caracas, London and Palermo. His sculptures are in front of the sea as in San Sebastián, and the mountains as in Japan, and in cities such as Washington, Paris, Lund, Munster, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Guernica and Berlin. Architects, mathematicians, philosophers such as Martín Heideggeer and Emile Cioran, and poets like Octavio Paz have written about his work.
