David Zapatka is a former television cameraman with over 30 years of experience who embarked on a new creative journey in 2013: photographing lighthouses. His passion for capturing these historic structures culminated in the self-published book *Stars and Lights*, released in 2017. The book features 130 stunning photographs of lighthouses taken at night, a project born from Zapatka’s desire to preserve the beauty and history of these landmarks, many of which are now being decommissioned. For Zapatka, this book represents something tangible that he never had during his television career. In addition to his photography, Zapatka has shared his experiences with others, including a memorable presentation at The Seasons, an assisted living facility in East Greenwich, where he invited residents to imagine their favorite lighthouse illuminated at night.
