Mid century modern enamel painting on copper panel with transparent enamels overlaid in an abstract design to create shades of turquoise, brown, silver, gold, and green. This was the artist's favorite piece out of his many creations and it resided over his work desk for many years. Image measures 12" x 7"; housed in wooden frame measuring 15" x 10" x 2" constructed by the artist.
About the Artist
Oppi Untracht
Oppi Untracht (1922-2008) was a master metalsmith, teacher, and author. He was born in New York and earned a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University in 1947, before moving permanently to Finland in 1967. Originally trained as a photographer, Untracht studied Indian arts and crafts. He later became one of the foremost writers on jewellery and metal-working techniques on the second half of the 20th century.
